Storage Acton Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Storage Acton is taking to identify, prevent, and address modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to uphold the highest standards of integrity and to ensure that the services we provide are delivered in a way that respects human rights and promotes fair and safe working conditions.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
Storage Acton has a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, human trafficking, and exploitation. This applies to our own business, our employees, contractors, agency workers, and every organisation that supplies products or services to us. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery has no place in our operations.
All colleagues are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with this policy and with our wider values of respect, transparency, and accountability. We do not knowingly work with any party that fails to meet these standards and we reserve the right to terminate relationships where serious non-compliance is identified.
Supply Chain Standards and Supplier Audits
Our supply chain includes providers of storage equipment, facilities services, maintenance, technology, and professional support. We recognise that certain parts of these supply chains may be at a higher risk of labour exploitation, particularly where goods or services originate from regions with weaker labour protections or limited oversight.
To manage this risk, Storage Acton is implementing a structured supplier assessment programme. New and existing suppliers are required to confirm their adherence to our expectations on labour standards, including the prohibition of forced or bonded labour, child labour, and abusive working practices. Where appropriate, we request evidence of internal policies, training, and due diligence processes that address modern slavery risk.
We conduct periodic audits and reviews of selected suppliers based on risk, scale, and strategic importance. These audits may include on-site visits, review of employment and health and safety records, and interviews with management. Where non-compliance or areas of concern are identified, we work with the supplier to agree corrective actions, set clear timelines for improvement, and monitor progress. If a supplier fails to demonstrate genuine commitment to resolving issues, we may suspend or end the relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Speaking Up
Storage Acton encourages everyone associated with our business to speak up if they have any concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices. This includes our employees, contractors, suppliers, and any other stakeholder who becomes aware of potential wrongdoing connected to our operations or supply chain.
Concerns can be raised through established internal reporting channels or directly to a manager or senior member of the leadership team. Reports can be made in confidence and will be handled sensitively and promptly. We do not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated after investigation.
All credible concerns will be investigated, and where necessary, steps will be taken to protect affected individuals, remediate harm, and prevent recurrence. Where appropriate, we will cooperate with relevant authorities and regulatory bodies.
Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement
We are committed to building awareness of modern slavery across Storage Acton so that our people understand how to recognise warning signs and know how to respond. Relevant teams, including procurement, facilities, and site management, receive guidance on risk indicators and on how to evaluate suppliers and contractors from a modern slavery perspective.
We continually review industry guidance and emerging best practice to strengthen our approach. Feedback from employees and suppliers is used to refine our policies, procedures, and due diligence measures.
Annual Review and Governance
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually by the leadership of Storage Acton to ensure it remains appropriate, effective, and aligned with current legislation and best practice. The review considers changes in our business activities, findings from supplier audits, outcomes of any investigations, and feedback from stakeholders.
Updates to our policies or processes arising from the annual review are communicated to relevant teams and, where appropriate, to suppliers. By maintaining regular oversight and governance, Storage Acton aims to continually improve its ability to prevent, detect, and address modern slavery risks in all aspects of our operations and supply chain.
This statement reflects Storage Acton’s ongoing commitment to promoting ethical conduct, safeguarding human rights, and working with partners who share these values.
